"Thanks for such a great idea" Gabrielle Allen, Weybridge"Small Planet is great! What a lot of work went into it...already helped with golf lessons for my 7 year old" Sue Otway, Molesey"I recomend Small Planet to all new mums I meet. I use it daily, and always bring it out when I'm visiting playgroups and nurseries on my rounds" Helen Sadler, development officer for Pre School Learning Alliance, Surrey County Council"It's the best source of information there is for new mums. I recommend it to everyone" Lulu Button, play leader, Little Gems, HershamI have used most sections of it and I recommend it to everyone I know" Sharyn Mackay, Esher"All of it is invaluable, especially if new to the area" Sara Bricusse, Molesey"I bought a Small Planet when I first moved to Molesey and was just about to have my second child. I didn't really know anyone here and it was brilliant for introducing me to all kinds of events and clubs to do with mothers and toddlers and generally meeting new people and making friends. It was my 'bible' for a good few years. Even when the children started education, it had all the info for local nurseries and schools." Kathryn Singleton, Molesey

About Small Planet

How do I choose a party entertainer?

Where are my local parent and toddler groups?

Where can I find tennis/Spanish/ballet lessons?

Which schools should I be looking at?

How can I find a good tutor?

Sounds familiar? Well, answers to all those questions and many, many more are in this book.

If you are new to parenting, new to the area or simply looking for new ways to entertain your under 11s this book will prove essential reading.

When I arrived in Elmbridge many years ago with a toddler, I found it very hard to find a central source of information for all the clubs, classes, sports, social events and attractions aimed at children in the borough. I set up Small Planet as a way of bringing together the kind of information that is pinned up on village noticeboards and libraries or passed on by word of mouth but is hard to access if you are new to the area.

This is the fourth edition of Small Planet and it has gone from strength to strength. This year the Shooting Star Children’s Hospice in Hampton is the chosen charity and 20p from each book will go to support the fantastic work of the home.

In this book there are lots of new classes, clubs, sports activities and parties, as well as many new sections such as Back to Work. As always, I have asked you, the parents and carers, which attractions and activities you would recommend to other parents. These tips and comments are included after the listings (many thanks to all of you who completed the questionnaires).

You can purchase Small Planet online through this site or at all seven libraries in Elmbridge, The Pen & Cob in Walton, Refresh Café in Molesey, Mada Deli café in Hampton Court, Hopscotch shoe shop in Molesey, Jumping Jacks in Hersham and many playgroups including Little Gems in Hersham and Sponge Fingers in Walton. You can also call 020 8398 2075 to order a copy.

All information has been checked as of December 2008, but things change fast so please let me know if there’s anything that should be added or has changed. Finally, if you do use Small Planet to choose a club, activity, nursery etc please let them know where you saw the listing – it helps enormously for next time!
